Lyrics of The Day : Obie Trice, Cry Now

"Cry Now"

[Intro]
"Crrrry"
Giant face nigga (giant face nigga)
Get it together (get it togheter)
I ain't goin nowhere (nowhere)
O. Trice (O. Trice)

[Verse 1]
Niggaz wanna kill me, till a nigga stoned
Wanna peel my cap back, see a nigga gon'
All because I rap actual facts on a song
It's no fabrication, what's wrong (what's wrong)
Slum cracked to the day come (day come)
But they don't wanna gimme that, say he fakin (fakin)
Schoolcraft is the makin (makin)
But God forsake 'em, they hate I'm great
Conservin them weight, to the Top 8 at 8
You whether see him wait, momma hypervenalate
Tuckin her son underneath the state (Michigan)
Hip-Hop's my fate, since cassette tapes
I've been braced what you know of, as this niggaz culture
Put it in a chokehold, spoke as a soldier (soldier)
Yea he provoke him, to pull up out his holster
Leave you wit a visible ulcer, oggle and off ya
Niggaz ought to when he lyrically off us
All cause he salty, I'm rollin like a boss
I don't follow nigga's course, I'm akward
My choice, Rock City is my voice
The White Boy stepped down, so I will accept the crown
Exceptional however, never let ya down
Found my new niche, no more bricks
So I'm pitchin 16's, verbally bitch

[Chorus]
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Nigga cry now

[Verse 2]
Cry all you wanna, numero uno stunna
Then snuck up on ya, Lord what has become of us
The Boy hold the "D" down, like none other
Up comin since slums, can't knock them mothafuckas
So we, take shots at 'em, try to snuff 'em
Whether see 'em suffer, then become one up on us
Round the globe, promotin us hustlas
The white boy's cool, but refuse they brothers
So we, cock the tools, and shoot our own color
This ain't Detroit Red, you won't (X) me out (Malcolm)
I exit this, whenever be from a violent outcome
I turn Exorcist on niggaz wit extra clips
Exit on my ethics, is no longer present
X-rays show, I was this close to Heaven
So for future reference, I stay this close to a weapon {click-clack}
Who you testin, never said I was the best, never stressin
Don't make me get in my zone, I will own that whole note (fa sho')
Metaphorically, for where I roam on chrome yo (fa sho')
Detroit for niggaz that's slow, it's the O
I was birth wit Jehovah's hand on my soul

[Chorus]
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Nigga cry now

[Verse 3]
Can't explain the gift; but my aim is to take
What the streets gave my brain and spit
And I ain't evaporate, I will remain the shit
So ya lames that got a problem wit the game - tough tit
He still in the same Range, windows fixed
And I'm killin 'em come a-gain, that's as real as it gets
Off ya, tryna make me depart ya, from my thought-a
Coffin's for you, and the nigga that brought ya
The hatin start in ya, release from our father
The people at the alter, saying ya better off
You don't wanna see a demon, come out of a humen being
Recent being the sience, and to him it's too extreme
Catch me in the BM, like Tupac and them
Or in that Tahoe like Christopher - NO
Poppa gon' keep poppin Cris on you hoes
And piss on those, who exist as my foes
O rolls through shit, spittin cold flows
Knows his business, I'll be missed if I go
Who you know holdin the city on his shoulders
Flow is ferocious, it's O shit, true vocalist - BITCH!

[Chorus]
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Cry now
"Crrrrrry now" Nigga cry now

[Outro]
"Crrrrrry now" [to fade]

VIndictiveness: Hurt In A Mask

Vindictive! Vindictive! Vindictive!

This word has been thrown around my atmosphere a lot lately. The Webster Collegiate Dictionary defines vindictive in more than one way. The way that it applies in this writing is the intention to cause anguish or hurt. To be spiteful!

Vindictiveness involves aim! Vindictiveness is used to gain dominance over another or a situation. I personally don't want to be dominant over anyone or anything, nor do I want anything to be dominant over me. Wanting to dominate over someone else I believe is caused by the insecurity you have within yourself. If you respect yourself and those around you, then being spiteful is not necessary, even if others are taking this approach.

Vindictiveness! Vindictiveness! Vindictiveness! It sprouts from conflict! I may be in conflict with myself or an outside source. I may not agree with what is going on in my current circumstance and that will sprout vindictive thinking. If I feel this way, it is very important to change this behavior.

Once Vindictiveness is started, it can and will spread like wild fire. So how do I notice my vindictiveness early? Let me say this, vindictiveness is a personal thing it shows it self in different forms because we all have different opinion. So it all starts with self and changing your thoughts. The outside source looking in can only give opinion. Opinion is not fact!

Freedom

What is meant by the expression to be free? Personally for me, freedom is when nothing or anybody can deprive you of your rights. Freedom is the ability to let go. Freedom is the ability to resist an urge that is dominate over you. Is freedom power? Not power over anyone or anything, just power over you. Is freedom being able to be yourself and not face consequences for it? What is meant by the expression to be free? Freedom is to do or be whatever I set my mind on being. Freedom is movement! Freedom does not fear! Freedom does hate itself, because I am what I am allowed to be. Freedom is the discovery that all though you can be physically restrained, you still possess the capabilities to be free. Freedom is right their! Freedom explores! Freedom is exciting! Freedom has been their all along but your mind has been buried by other things around you. I'll say it again! Freedom is right their! Freedom is survival! Look at the field with no fences or boundaries, to me that is freedom. Maybe freedom is nothing but a idea, maybe it becomes what it needs to be when it needs to be it. Freedom!

Acting: Black Or White

Through out life labels make us or break us. The fear of not fitting in has left many in this world stagnant mentally and physically. Something must be done so that others don't feel threatened when they decide to step out the box.

Recently in my travels I encountered a young African-American male. After we began to talk his eyes told a story that my conversation didn't match my appearance or color. He posed a question " you probably like country music huh?" I replied! "Yeah I enjoy groups like the Sugarland and Ashton Shepard." You would think people embrace versatility, from his look that was not the case. The rage seem to build inside and his next words would express that. " Why don't you act black?" I thought to myself, is this the mind state of the young black man. After all the fight to be seen as an individuals, why do people succumb to labels?

If you were to ask numerous people to define acting black, you would get numerous answers. Although I feel two people would not totally agree on the aspect of acting black, I still will make an attempt to list some attributes that are attributed to acting black:

1. If you don't sag your pants your're acting black

2. If you don't listen to hard core rap music your're not acting black

3. If you don't enjoy certain foods such as watermelon or chicken your're not acting black.

4. If you don't use words like homie, dog, nigga, or any other ghetto derived Ebonics then your're not acting black.

They're many more attributes that I could add to this acting list, but to establish my point on labels I feel these are enough. "Acting black" or "Acting white" are labels designed by propagandist to cause division and promote hatred among different groups. What's even more scary than that is when the group that is being hated on starts to embrace the name calling, negative beliefs, and negative attitudes about itself. What comes with that acceptance is the rejection of others that are not like you.

Not placing all the blame on propagandist, but the environmental history which an individual has been exposed to places a big part in acting. The contingencies around us bring out a condition that either we follow or we deviant from. Looking at the attributes above, if the contingencies were right, it's possible you could see many different nationalities acting the way that so many blacks have called "their style." This could all be made possible because of the exposure in their contingencies. "Acting black" has nothing to do with genetics. "Acting black" is a learned behavior that have been embraced by the young African- Americans.

Acting like someone or something benefits me how? I'm not Denzel or Will, there is no money involved in my acting. Those gentlemen and so many others after they're done return home to there lives and embrace who they are. If the attributes mentioned above are you, then that is all fine and cool. If the attributes mentioned above are coming out of you because of peer pressure from those around you, then that is not fine and that is not you but them. It's not easy looking in the mirror when you don't know what your looking at.

I once read " there is no disaster greater than not being content." The comment from the younger gentlemen " why don't you act black", was heard by me as cry for help. A cry from a young man who is not comfortable in his own skin. He continues to clutch on to his act for survival, cause he doesn't have enough confidence in his own skin. Once he discovers his identity then those labels he was attached too, and propagandist he was listening too, will escape his mental environment. He will then be able to make steps to venture outside of his environment. After that he will soon have to answer the question posed from an actor: "why don't you act black?"

The Pleasure Of Withstanding Pressure

I recently read when the WNBA failed to lure a certain brand of female viewer, they resorted to " sharpening" up their athletes. Players were asked to arch their eyebrows, wear blush, and even liner. Was this move done by the WNBA, made to cause the viewer to have more respect for these women? I think not! It seems this action was taken in order to achieve a certain financial delight.

Delight is a synonym for pleasure. One way that I've seen pleasure defined is, " one's choices, wishes, or preferences". To maintain this inhuman social system, ones pleasure must be put above another. So if we take a closer look at the word " pleasure", we will see that it's definition doesn't apply to all. The pleasure of many women are being overlooked! Many women are being used so other's choices can be manifested. For survival purposes, many women are being forced into taking on certain roles that degrade, demean, and keep their self-esteem low.

There are many women groups that disagree and resist plans like that of the WNBA' plan to sexualize their player's images. They resist getting caught up in the music video " eye candy". They resist being the " tight, short short wearing cleavage exposing" females. Unfortunately all of this resistance does is make the things in place become that much stronger. Women, when you are face-to-face with this situation, it may look like you are fighting against something small, but that which is so small, is really a branch of something bigger.

Don't let the above comment discourage you. Don't resign to your fate and start changing the way you dress, the way you look, or talk. If you do that, you will be allowing those oppressive forces to accumulate a broader argument for their case. Believe in yourself and understand struggles are a part of life. In many cases the best reaction is no reaction. This attitude is something that can be passed on to your kids; and then; possibly; individual pleasure can be experienced. A Pleasures that will not be judged.

Smile!

When I woke up in the morning my mommy asked me " son why are you smiling"? " I'm happy to see your face, that's why". I smile when I put toothpaste on my tooth brush and began to brush. It makes my smile very white. What else makes me smile? When I put on my favorite pants, with my favorite shirt and my favorite shoes, as I get ready for school. I wonder what is for breakfast. I hope it's my favorite. That wll make me smile. It' time to go to school and see all my friends. "Hi" ,"Hi". The teacher says it's nice to see you smile. Do you have a mirror? Look at your smile! It's so pretty! It feels so good doesn't it. Look again! Then look at your friends. Come on,come on, everyone join in. Smile! Smile! And the end of the night while you are getting all tucked in. Smile! When you go to sleep and wake up again. Smile!

Letter To Estelle Richman

Estelle,

A while back you wrote an article titled " Pa welfare recipients lowest since 1960's". The comments made by you were a little one sided. You attributed the decline in recent years to changes in the departments ability to help recipients develop job skills, match them with jobs, give them access to child care, among other things. Besides word of mouth, what other things do you have to support this? It is possible Pa's low welfare recipient rate may be attributed to the fact the recipient is discouraged and less informed? At this time, the steps to be taken to apply for welfare to some is a little intimidating.

People need to be informed of new services that are available. There seems to be little effort to educate those in need of new benefits available. People who are entitled to rolls are not being placed on them. The welfare department is not reserving spots on television or the radio to direct or educate those in need of these services. Where are the organizations that inform the people of their entitlements? Where is the pressure? Organized protest by groups of recipients in the 60's were very influential. The media strong emphasis on police brutality possible could be a factor that discourage those who want to protest. From where I stand people are in need. The welfare rate should surely rise if more information and a few roadblocks are broke down.

When I speak of roadblocks you could tie that into discouragement. The more roadblocks the more discouragement. Those who go to the welfare office to receive assistance soon turn away due to the long lines and wait. Many times people are presented with paperwork to fill out and then sent away. Within a week or two they get called back to fill out more paperwork. After that they are told to call a number where they sit and wait and talk to someone who informs them that they did not qualify for assistance. This is a system that I see is put into place to keep people away. It use to be one that help any and all. The individual that filed for assistance tells his friend about the process and the results. They may reply they don't have time for that. The system is working then. Paperwork equals discouragement!

The lack of information and discouragement could clearly be the reason you can write " PA welfare recipients lowest since 1960's". Estelle the reason that you stated could also be considered, but when you report something report it from both sides. There is two sides to look at, the recipient and the system. I felt your article did not do that. It attributed a result to something good, when the result could have sprung up from something bad. Good-Bye!

The Prisoners Tongue

Belief seems to be all we have. I want you to believe in yourself more than anything else in this world. There are so many belie of criminal or ex cons, we are belittled and throw to the wolves before we even take a step out into society. Poisonous black berries, that's how I feel. They wouldn't even touch me . They treat me like I'm poisonous black berries. I refuse to settle for a bell-boy position, the position I am putting myself in is to be the guest, the guest that gives his bags to the bell-boy.

The woman and ex- con are dogged. How does a woman become a belle? The media! How does a person who made a mistake become a ex-con? The media! The media continually flashes the so called belle and those who don't look like her try to become her. This causes war! The woman who knows this is constantly fighting for respect with the rest of society. All she wants is to be respected as a individual. All the ex-con wants is to be respected as a individual. Instead of calling them bitches and instead of calling them ex-cons just call them individuals.

Say Word!

Men make their own history, but they do not make it just as they please, they do not make it under circumstances choosen by themselves, but under circumstances directly found, given and transmitted from the past. The tradition of all the dead weigh on the brain of the living. By words one of us can give another the greater happiness or bring about utter despair; therefore let us despie not the use of words. Words will contribute toward either the liberation or the enslavement of men. If we despise the words we use, we will despise ourselves. Independence means that we will not fear the word we use. " The more honourable choice, if there be a choice; is to go down in fair fight with destiny" Word!
